Accomplishments

A school library is both a unique place and a unique program within a school setting. A school librarian must be a teacher to students and staff as well as a program administrator who manages the collection, budgets for library expenditures, supervises volunteers and staff, assesses the effectiveness of library programs, and engages in strategic planning to ensure continued improvement and growth. Having had experience in retail management before becoming an educator, I will be able to apply my supervisory and financial management skills to a school library program. As part of my graduate program, I have created policy manuals for collection development and technical services to ensure that consistency in program management ensures equitable access to a well-managed collection. I have created a library budget proposal based on an analysis of the current collection, of student and teacher needs, and with the goal of supporting instruction and the educational mission of the the school.
